What is a News Marketer? In 1997 I started a company to help businesses gain visibility for their news (press releases) on the Internet. In August 2006 this company (PRWeb) became part of a larger company, Vocus, Inc. based in Lanham, MD. At PRWeb we developed a news distribution model that turned the industry upside down and greatly expanded the market for news distribution. We developed what has become known as the direct-to-consumer model for press release distribution. Essentially we market corporate news to the public essentially democratizing the media for business. Somebody needed to do it.
In addition to being a News Marketer, I am first and foremost a serial entrepreneur. Since selling PRWeb to Vocus, I have started several new business ventures including Tangible Express which I exited rather quickly ; Chispa Fun, a Seqway (no longer carry Segway line) and Vespa dealership in Bellingham, WA; and Chispa Aviation US Reliant Air Charters, a charter airline service out of Bellingham, WA.

David A. McInnis, Founder and CEO of PRWeb®
David McInnis is the original innovator of direct to consumer news release distribution and developer of PRWeb’s Online Visibility Engine. A graduate of Texas State University with a B.A. in International Business, he worked for many years as a marketing and database consultant for the telecommunication and direct marketing industries. He served as the IT Manager for Americall Corporation and CTO for several start-ups throughout the 1990’s. Mr. McInnis developed the PRWeb® platform in 1997 and watched it mature into one of the largest press release newswires on the net. While PRWeb® offers services common in major newswires, PRWeb® is the first and only newswire service focusing on direct to consumer distribution.
He remains committed to assisting business owners, authors, marketers and others publicize and promote their news to high-value online properties and major search engines through his innovative use of technology.
In 2005, Mr. McInnis joined the efforts of Unitus, a micro finance accelerator. He believes that microfinance is one of the few programs that provides sustainable solution to the world’s poverty woes and is fully committed to helping the microfinance industry help provide a way out of poverty through microfinance.
David is father to 4 sons and a kite-flying enthusiast.
I have had the privilege of traveling with David to India and back and I know that he puts his energy where his mouth is both in terms of dollars and personal effort. He has made a valiant effort to alleviate abroad as well as in his own backyard by providing phenomenal opportunities for those wonderful college grads looking for that first real job.
