PR Newswire - News About Nothing
I was really amused last year when PRN announced their delicious relationship. Yesterday they announced a “partnership” with Technorati which turns out is not much of an announcement at all. I am equally amused that PRN would enter into a formal partnership with Technorati for something that they could have been doing years ago. Someone at PRN probably received major kudos for this relationship. What they deserve is a spanking for not understanding the space better.
I will provide the formula below for all of the newswires of the world so that you too can create a technorati link from your stories.
Here it is:
http://technorati.com/search/http%3A%2F%2F (followed by the url of your press release) prweb.com/releases/2006/2/prweb349374.htm
will result in
technorati.com/search/http%3A%2F%2Fprweb.com/releases/2006/2/prweb349374.htm
Now go forth and create Technorati tracking links from your website. See, I told you that there was no story here. I frankly would be embarrassed to be PRN right about now. They have a SEO service which they call SEV that is not much more than a 6 month press release hosting service. Until yesterday, their social media play consisted of putting a delicious logo on their press release pages. . They could not incorporate trackbacks into their press releases because of the pending patent that PRWeb holds here so they have to create formal partnerships with Technorati.
As you will notice from the technorati link that I created above, the PRWeb trackback feature is much stronger at generating buzz on Technorati than the PRN announcement.
BTW, all of the PRWeb social media features exist over at Business Wire in their EON service.

Technorati & PRNewswire Deal: Just ‘Cuz It’s Easy Doesn’t Mean It Ain’t Kinda’ Cool…
Earlier this week, Technorati and PRNewswire announced a deal that "for the first time (allows) readers of press releases (to) track online conversations in the blogopshere directly from press releases." In other words, the "Technorati T…
[…] Dave Armon and I have met on several occasions on both sides of the continent. He is really a cool guy I don’t care if he is the competition or however you want to view him/PRNewswire - we don’t do disclosure releases and we’re in the cheese moving business. That being said, I agree with The Founders post about their recent press release and of course about their delicious one. Our trackback technology is one better - allows the viewer of the release to comment and view existing blog posts that left trackbacks, all while never leaving the press release. […]
